Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human
Epithelial Membrane Antigen (EMA)
Clone E29
Labels normal and neoplastic epithelium.
The antibody is very useful together with the monoclonal antibodies to leucocyte common antigen (Code M0701) and cytokeratin (Code M0821), which label cells of lymphoid and epithelial origin, respectively. In the classification of hematolymphoid neoplasms, the antibody labels Reed-Sternberg cells in nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin's lymphoma and neoplastic cells in a subset of anaplastic large cell lymphomas.
Isotype IgG2a, kappa

Breast ductal carcinoma (FFPE) stained with FLEX Anti-EMA, Code IR629/IS629.
Breast ductal carcinoma. The majority of the neoplastic cells show a moderate to strong membranous and cytoplasmic staining reaction.
Clinical application for IR629/IS629 For identification of tumors of epithelial origin in a wide variety of tissues.
Mesothelioma. The malignant mesothelioma cells show a strong staining reaction in membrane and cytoplasm.
Clinical application for IR629/IS629 For identification of tumors of epithelial origin in a wide variety of tissues.
Breast. Epithelial cells show a strong staining reaction on the apical part of the cell membrane and, occasionally, on the entire circumference of the cell membrane. A granular cytoplasmic staining reaction can also be observed.
Recommended control for IR629/IS629. Breast/Tonsil.
Tonsil. The squamous epithelial cells show a moderate to strong distinct cytoplasmic staining reaction, and the plasma cells show a weak to moderate predominantly membranous staining reaction.
Recommended control for IR629/IS629. Breast/Tonsil.
Colon adenocarcinoma stained with Anti-EMA.
Clinical application for IR629/IS629 For identification of tumors of epithelial origin in a wide variety of tissues.

Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human Epithelial Membrane Antigen, Clone E29, is intended for use in immunohistochemistry. The antibody labels epithelial cells in a wide variety of tissues and is a useful tool for the identification of neoplastic epithelia (1). Differential identification is aided by the results from a panel of antibodies. Interpretation must be made within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.
Clone: E29 (1). Isotype: IgG2a, kappa.

FLEX Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human Epithelial Membrane Antigen, Clone E29, Ready-to-Use (Link), is intended for use in immunohistochemistry together with Autostainer Link instruments. This antibody is useful for the identification of epithelial cells in a wide variety of tissues and is a useful tool for the identification of neoplastic epithelia (1). EMA is present on the membrane of secretory epithelia. The absence of EMA staining with monoclonal mouse anti-human epithelial membrane antigen, clone E29 is considered to be strongly suggestive of non-epithelial neoplasia (2). The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.
