B-cell-specific activator protein, BSAP, also known as Pax-5, is a transcription factor expressed in B cells.
Antibodies to BSAP may be useful for the identification of pro, pre, and mature B cells and in the classification of lymphomas. Together with a panel of antibodies it is particularly useful in the differential identification of classic Hodgkin's disease versus anaplastic large cell lymphoma of the T and null-cell type.

FLEX Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human B-Cell-Specific Activator Protein, Clone DAK-Pax5, Ready-to-Use (Dako Autostainer/Autostainer Plus), is intended for use in immunohistochemistry together with Dako Autostainer/Autostainer Plus instruments. Antibodies to B-cell-specific activator protein (BSAP) may be useful for the identification of pro-, pre-, and mature B cells and in the classification of lymphomas (1-4). Together with a panel of antibodies it is particularly useful in the differential identification of classic Hodgkin's disease versus anaplastic large cell lymphoma of T- and null-cell type (1, 3). The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.
