Polyclonal Rabbit Anti-Human
Von Willebrand Factor
The antibody is a useful tool for studying angiogenesis in neoplasms such as breast cancer (1) and for the identification of epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (2).
The former designation for von Willebrand factor was factor VIII-related antigen.

Colon. The endothelial cells of both blood and lymphatic vessels in lamina propria show a moderate to strong staining reaction. The epithelial cells should be negative.
Recommended control for IR527/IS527. Colon/Liver.
Liver. The endothelial cells lining the sinusoids show a weak to moderate staining reaction. The liver cells should be negative or only focally positive.
Recommended control for IR527/IS527. Colon/Liver.

Polyclonal Rabbit Anti-Human Von Willebrand Factor, is intended for use in immunohistochemistry. The antibody is also well-suited for ELISA and gel immunoprecipitation techniques. The antibody is a useful tool for studying angiogenesis in neoplasms such as breast cancer (1) and for the identification of epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (2). Differential identification is aided by the results from a panel of antibodies. For the specific and quantitative determination of von Willebrand Factor circulating in plasma, an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) may be a useful tool in the determination of von Willebrand disease (3). Interpretation of results must be made within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a certified professional.
In crossed immunoelectrophoresis using 12.5 µL antibody per cm2 gel area against 10 µL of human plasma only one precipitate corresponding to the von Willebrand Factor appears. Staining: Coomassie Brilliant Blue.
As demonstrated by immunohistochemistry, the antibody cross-reacts with the vWF-equivalent protein on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue in cow, horse, mouse and swine. Using other fixatives, cross reactivity was observed in chicken (8), dog and rat (9).
Protein concentration g/L: See label on vial.
The titre variation between different lots of A0082 is less than 10%. This is achieved by adjusting the titre of each individual lot to match the titre of an antibody reference preparation kept at -80 °C.

FLEX Polyclonal Rabbit Anti-Human Von Willebrand Factor, Ready-to-Use (Link), is intended for use in immunohistochemistry together with Autostainer Link instruments. This antibody is useful for the identification of acute myeloid leukemia FAB type M7 (1, 2) and angiosarcoma (3, 4). The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.
