BCL2 Oncoprotein

Reacts with the BCL2 oncoprotein encoded by a gene involved in the t(14;18) chromosomal translocation. The BCL2 oncoprotein plays a central role in apoptosis.
This antibody has found numerous applications in studies of apoptosis, e.g. in hematological malignancies and other malignant diseases (1, 2). The antibody may be useful in the classification of follicular lymphomas and various diffuse lymphoproliferative diseases, and for differential identification of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma versus Burkitt lymphoma/leukemia (3).

Follicular lymphoma. The majority of the neoplastic cells show a distinct cytoplasmic staining reaction.
Clinical application for IR614/IS614. Primarily for identification of follicular lymphoma. Various B- and T-cell lymphoproliferative diseases and some diffuse large B-cell lymphomas are BCL2 positive. Burkitt lymphoma/leukemia is generally negative for BCL2.

FLEX Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human BCL2 Oncoprotein, Clone 124, Ready-to-Use (Dako Autostainer/Autostainer Plus), is intended for use in immunohistochemistry together with Dako Autostainer/Autostainer Plus instruments. This antibody labels cells expressing BCL2 oncoprotein. Positive results aid in the classification of follicular lymphomas and various diffuse lymphoproliferative diseases (1). The antibody is a useful tool in the differential diagnosis of Burkitt lymphoma/leukaemia versus diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (2). The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.
