Carcinoid tumor. The majority of the neoplastic cells show a predominantly membranous staining reaction.
Clinical application for IR628/IS628. For identification of natural killer (NK) cells, NK-like T cells, neural/neuroendocrine tissues and their neoplasms such as small cell carcinoma of the lung and carcinoid tumor.
Small cell carcinoma of the lung. The majority of the neoplastic cells show a strong predominantly membranous staining reaction

Colon. The peripheral nerves in tunica muscularis - both the axons and the ganglion cells show a moderate to strong and predominantly membranous staining reaction.

Tonsil. The NK cells show a weak to moderate membranous staining reaction.

This antibody is useful for the identification of natural killer (NK) cells, NK-like T cells, neural/neuroendocrine tissues and related neoplasms (1). The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.

Membrane preparation of a small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) (5).
Specificity
In Western blotting of homogenates of SCLC and of an undifferentiated spindle cell sarcoma, the antibody labels a 29 kDa band under reducing conditions. Under non-reducing conditions the 29 kDa band shifted to a 150 kDa band suggesting that the antibody recognizes a protein consisting of at least two subunits (5).
Reagent Provided
Monoclonal mouse antibody provided in liquid form as cell culture supernatant (containing fetal bovine serum) dialyzed against 0.05 mol/L Tris/HCl, pH 7.2, and containing 0.015 mol/L sodium azide.

The protein concentration between lots may vary without influencing the optimal dilution. The titer of each individual lot is compared and adjusted to a reference lot to ensure a consistent immunohistochemical staining performance from lot-to-lot.
