Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA)
The antibody has been absorbed with blood group antigens A and B, and insolubilized normal human plasma.
The antibody shows a strong reaction with CEA and CEA-like proteins, such as CEACAM1 (biliary glycoprotein, BGP1) and CEACAM6 (non-specific cross-reacting antigen, NCA).

Secondary adenocarcinoma (FFPE) stained with FLEX Anti-CEA, Code IR526/IS526.
Secondary adenocarcinoma spread to the liver. The neoplasic cells show a moderate to strong staining reaction, and in the surrounding liver tissue the bile canaliculi show a distinct staining reaction.
Clinical application for IR526/IS526. For identification of the histogenesis of epithelial tumors in several morphological categories.

Intended Use
For in vitro diagnostic use.
FLEX Polyclonal Rabbit Anti-Human Carcinoembryonic Antigen, Ready-to-Use (Link), is intended for use in immunohistochemistry together with Autostainer Link instruments. The antibody labels cells expressing CEA and CEA-like proteins, and it may assist in identifying the histogenesis of epithelial tumors in several morphological categories (1-4). The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.

Immunogen
Human CEA isolated from hepatic metastasis of colon adenocarcinoma.
Specificity
The antibody reacts with CEA and CEA-like proteins, for example, CEACAM1 and CEACAM6.
Trace amounts of contaminating antibodies to human plasma proteins have been removed by solid-phase absorption. Absorption has also been performed with blood group antigens A and B.
In crossed immunoelectrophoresis only the CEA and a CEA-like protein precipitation arches appear when using 12.5 µL concentrated antibody per square cm gel area against a concentrated perchloric acid extract of hepatic metastasis of colon adenocarcinoma. No reaction is seen with 2 µL normal human plasma. Staining: Coomassie Brilliant Blue.
In double antibody sandwich ELISA, no reaction is observed with normal human plasma stripped of CEA.

Reagent Provided
Ready-to-use polyclonal rabbit antibody provided in liquid form in a buffer containing stabilizing protein and 0.015 mol/L sodium azide.
