Polyclonal Rabbit Anti-Human
Progesterone Receptor
A carefully selected synthetic peptide from human progesterone receptor has been used for immunization. The antibody strongly labels the nuclei of cells known to contain a high level of progesterone receptor, e.g. normal, hyperplastic and neoplastic cells of the mammary gland, as well as epithelial and myometrial cells of the uterus. The antibody is very useful in conjunction with Dako Anti-Human Estrogen Receptor α.

Progesterone receptor (PR) is a member of the steroid receptor superfamily that includes receptors for several steroids, thyroid hormone, oxysterols, and fat-soluble vitamins. PR exits in two isoforms, PRA and PRB, that are expressed from a single gene as a result of transcription from two alternative promoters (1). Isoform PRB contains an N-terminal fragment of 164 amino acids that is not present in isoform PRA (2). Binding of progesterone to PR induces a conformational change resulting in dimerization of two ligand receptor complexes, increased receptor phosphorylation, and binding of receptor dimers to specific hormone-responsive DNA elements (1).
In crossed immunoelectrophoresis, using 12.5 µL antibody per cm2 gel area against 2 µL of human plasma and 2 µL of ovalbumin, no reactions with plasma proteins and ovalbumin were observed. Staining: Coomassie Brilliant Blue.
Protein concentration g/L: See label on vial.
