CA 125
Clone M11
Recognizes a mucin-like glycoprotein larger than 200 kDa, expressing the CA 125 epitope.
The antibody labels a variety of tumors, such as some adenocarcinomas of the colon, breast carcinomas, malignant mesothelioma, uterine adenomatoid tumor, lung bronchoalveolar carcinoma, and ovarian endometrioid and serous carcinomas. Antibodies to CA 125 may be useful for the differential diagnosis of adenocarcinomas, as positive reactivity in prostate, colorectal and renal carcinomas is rare (1-3).

FLEX Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human CA 125, Clone M11, Ready-to-Use (Dako Autostainer/Autostainer Plus), is intended for use in immunohistochemistry together with Dako Autostainer/Autostainer Plus instruments. This antibody is useful for the identification of serous ovarian carcinoma (1, 2). Antibodies to CA 125 may also be useful for the identification of mesothelioma (3). The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.

Immunogen
CA 125 antigen derived from ascites fluid.
Specificity
In Western blotting, the antibody labels multiple antigenic species including the molecular species recognized by monoclonal anti-CA 125, clone OC125 (7).
Competition assays have demonstrated that monoclonal antibody clone M11 does not compete with monoclonal antibody clone OC125 for binding to the CA 125 antigen (7).
