Polyclonal Rabbit Anti-Human
Calcitonin
Calcitonin is a 32 amino acid peptide hormone, produced in the parafollicular C cells of the thyroid.
Calcitonin acts through its receptors, causing osteoclast-mediated bone resorption and calcium excretion by the kidney. The antibody is useful for the identification of calcitonin-producing C cells, from which medullary thyroid carcinoma originates.

Polyclonal Rabbit Anti-Human Calcitonin, Code A0576, is intended for use in immunohistochemistry. The antibody labels calcitonin-producing C-cells, from which medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) originates (1). Differential identification is aided by the results from a panel of antibodies. Interpretation of results must be made within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a certified professional.
The antibody labels human thyroid C-cells, and other calcitonin-containing cells strongly and specifically. No non-specific staining has been observed.
As demonstrated by immunocytochemistry, the antibody cross-reacts with the calcitonin-equivalent protein in horse and swine.
Protein concentration g/L: See label on vial.
The titre variation between different lots of A0576 is less than 10%. This is achieved by adjusting the titre of each individual lot to match the titre of an antibody reference preparation kept at -80 °C.

FLEX Polyclonal Rabbit Anti-Human Calcitonin, Ready-to-Use (Link), is intended for use in immunohistochemistry together with Autostainer Link instruments. This antibody is useful for the identification of calcitonin-producing C-cells, from which medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) originates (1). The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.
