Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human Neuron-Specific Enolase, Clone BBS/NC/VI-H14, is intended for use in immunohistochemistry. The antibody labels both normal and neoplastic cells of neuronal and neuroendocrine origin (1), and although NSE is not an exclusive neuronal marker, it may be used for the identification of peripheral nerves, neural and neuroendocrine tumors, such as neuroblastomas, retinoblastomas, desmoplastic malignant melanoma and small-cell lung cancer (2, 3). Differential identification is aided by the results from a panel of antibodies. Interpretation must be made within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.

The protein concentration between lots may vary without influencing the optimal dilution. The titer of each individual lot is compared and adjusted to a reference lot to ensure a consistent immunohistochemical staining performance from lot-to-lot.
