Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human
Plasma Cell
Clone VS38c
Recognizes an intracellular protein of 63 kDa identical with the rough endoplasmic reticulum-associated protein p63. The antibody labels plasma cells strongly, but frequently also labels melanocytic cells, particularly melanoma cells, and a number of epithelial cells, e.g. in mucous glands and tonsils, and secretory epithelia in breast, thyroid and pancreas, both benign and malignant.
The antibody is useful in conjunction with other antibodies for identifying myeloma/plasmacytoma and immunocytoma in tissue biopsies. It is also of value for demonstrating plasmacytic differentiation in B-cell neoplasms.

Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human Plasma Cell, Clone VS38c, is intended for use in immunocytochemistry. The antibody labels normal and neoplastic plasma cells and may be a useful tool in the identification of myeloma and plasmacytoma in bone marrow or other tissues. Additionally it can assist in distinguishing between lymphoplasmacytoid lymphoma and lymphocytic and follicular lymphoma (1). Differential identification is aided by the results from a panel of antibodies. Interpretation must be made within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.
In Western blotting of cell lysates from plasma and epithelial cell lines under reducing conditions, the antibody labels a band of 64 kDa, corresponding to the p63 protein (1, 2).
Clone: VS38c (2). Isotype: IgG1, kappa.
