Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human Prostate-Specific Antigen, Clone ER-PR8, is intended for use in immunohistochemistry. The antibody labels prostatic epithelium and is a useful tool for the identification of benign and malignant cells of prostatic origin (1, 2). Differential identification is aided by the results from a panel of antibodies. Interpretation must be made within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.

Immunogen
Purified human prostate-specific antigen.
Specificity
In Western blotting of PSA purified from seminal plasma the antibody labels bands corresponding to PSA under reducing conditions, whereas no labelling was observed under non-reducing conditions (5). Anti-PSA, Clone ER-PR-8, was included in the ISOBM TD-3 Workshop, which characterized 83 antibodies against prostate-specific antigen. The antibody was confirmed to be useful for the specific immunohistochemical labelling of PSA. The location of the epitope could not be established (6).
Reagent Provided
Monoclonal mouse antibody provided in liquid form as cell culture supernatant dialysed against 0.05 mol/L Tris/HCl, pH 7.2, and containing 15 mmol/L NaN3.
