Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human Prostatic Acid Phosphatase, Clone PASE/4LJ, is intended for use in immunohistochemistry. The antibody labels glandular epithelium of the prostate and is a useful tool for the identification of normal prostatic tissue and primary and metastatic carcinoma of the prostate. Occasional samples of carcinoma of the bladder, rectal carcinoids, rare cases of other tumours, and macrophages may also be labelled by the antibody (1, 2). Differential identification is aided by the results from a panel of antibodies. Interpretation must be made within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.
In ELISA the antibody specifically reacts with human semen excluding all other bodily excretions, including vaginal fluid, blood, saliva, female urine, nasal discharge, earwax, sweat and faeces. Additionally semen from dog, goat, pig, ox and sheep are negative, whereas the antibody cross-reacts with semen from non-human primates, including vervet monkey and chacma baboon (5).
As demonstrated by immunocytochemistry, the antibody shows no cross-reactivity with the prostatic acid phosphatase-equivalent protein in dog, rabbit, and rat (2).
Clone: PASE/4LJ (1). Isotype: IgG1, kappa.
Mouse IgG concentration: see label on vial.
