LAT Protein

Clone LAT-1

LAT (linker for activation of T cells) protein appears early in the T-cell development, at the thymocyte stage, and before expression of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) in embryos. It is expressed by natural killer cells and T cells without restriction to any T-cell subpopulation. Megakaryocytes and mast cells also express LAT protein, whereas other myeloid cells, monocytic derived cells and B cells do not express LAT protein.

Intended Use
For in vitro diagnostic use.

Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human LAT Protein, Clone LAT-1, is intended for use in immunocytochemistry. The antibody label T cells, natural killer (NK) cells, megakaryocytes, and mast cells. Antibodies to LAT protein are useful for the identification of T-cell lymphoma subtypes (1). Differential identification is aided by the results from a panel of antibodies. Interpretation must be made within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.
Immunogen
Recombinant protein corresponding to the cytoplasmic domain of human LAT protein.
Specificity
In Western blot analysis using protein extracts from a human T-cell leukaemia cell line (HSB-2), human platelets and human reactive lymph nodes, the antibody labels human LAT protein.

As demonstrated by immunocytochemistry on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues, the antibody does not cross-react with the LAT-equivalent protein in cow, dog, horse, mouse, rat or swine.
Reagent Provided
Monoclonal mouse antibody provided in liquid form as cell culture supernatant dialysed against 0.05 mol/L Tris/HCl, pH 7.2, and containing 15 mmol/L NaN3.
