Chromogranin A
The antigen used for immunization is the C-terminal half (Mr 23000) of chromogranin A isolated from urine of patients with carcinoid syndrome. A reference to the use of anti-chromogranin in the study of tumors of neuroendocrine origin is given below.

Polyclonal Rabbit Anti-Human Chromogranin A, Code A0430, is intended for the determination of chromogranin A in immunohistochemistry (1). The antibody labels chromogranin A present in secretory granules of endocrine cells. Chromogranin A is a marker for neuroendocrine differentiation and antibodies to chromogranin A are useful for identification of neuroendocrinederived tumors. Differential identification is aided by the results from a panel of antibodies. Interpretation of results must be made within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a certified professional.

Immunogen
Chromogranin A isolated from urine of patients with carcinoid syndrome.
Specificity
The antibody reacts with human chromogranin A, but not with epitopes located on the N-terminal half of the chromogranin A molecule. The antibody labels the neuroendocrine cells and neural tissue in colon, pancreas and peripheral nerve tissue. No non-specific staining has been observed. Traces of contaminating antibodies have been removed by solid-phase absorption with human urine proteins.
Crossed immunoelectrophoresis: When using 12.5 µL Dako A0430 per square cm gel area against 2 µL human plasma or 2 µL concentrated urine from patients with tubular proteinuria no precipitate is seen.
As demonstrated by immunocytochemistry, the antibody cross-reacts with the chromogranin A-equivalent protein in cow, horse and swine.
