OPD Tablets
OPD is a sensitive chromogen for ELISA when peroxidase is the enzyme label. The peak absorbance of the golden brown acidified reaction product is at 492 nm. Each OPD tablet contains 3.52 mg of 1,2-phenylenediamine dihydrochloride, corresponding to 2 mg of OPD. The OPD tablets are effervescent and contain buffer salts. After dissolution in water (it takes only a few minutes), and the addition of hydrogen peroxide, the chromogenic substrate is ready for use. Enclosed with the tablets is a detailed working procedure for preparation of the chromogenic substrate solution for ELISA.
