Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human
Desmin
Clone D33
Labels smooth and striated muscle cells. The antibody works on paraffin-embedded material without pretreament with proteolytic enzymes.
Anti-Desmin, clone D33, is of value in the differential diagnosis of tumors of uncertain origin. It can be used in conjunction with the Dako monoclonal antibodies to the other intermediate filament proteins, such as cytokeratin (Code M0821), glial fibrillary acidic protein (Code M0761), neurofilament protein (Code M0762), vimentin (Code M7020) and the monoclonal antibody to leucocyte common antigen (Code M0701). The excellent performance of Anti-Desmin, D33, is illustrated in reference 1.

Uterine leiomyoma (FFPE) stained with FLEX Anti-Desmin, Code IR606/IS606.
Uterine leiomyoma. The majority of the neoplastic cells show a moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining reaction.
Clinical application for IR606/IS606 For identification of smooth and striated muscle cells and reactive mesothelial cells, tumors of muscle origin like leiomyoma and rhabdomyosarcoma.

- Optimized staining performance of both high- and low-expression structures
- Crisp and clear staining with no background
- Optimal laboratory efficiency with ready-to-use antibodies on Dako Autostainer Link 48
FLEX Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human Desmin, Clone D33, Ready-to-Use (Link), is intended for use in immunohistochemistry together with Autostainer Link instruments. This antibody labels smooth and striated muscle cells as well as mesothelial cells, and is useful for the identification of rhabdomyosarcomas (1, 2), leiomyomas, (3, 4) and mesotheliomas (5). The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.
As demonstrated by immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue sections, the antibody cross-reacts with the desmin-equivalent protein in mouse and rat.
